  • "Mommy!  That scared me out of my crap!!"

June 18, 2006

  • Well, and then it was done.

I have only days before I must return to the grind.  I will go back on Friday and get settled, read email download new software for the new job etc. Then I will fly out to Seattle on Sunday. I will be in Seattle a solid week. I am hoping the homestead will be ok for the week without me. Georgia can be quite a handful.

I am really looking forward to seeing my family, Doug & Melissa & the girls. It was nice to see them the last time I was out in February.  I am also excited to see Miss Darlene, we always have the best time. The last time I was out, we were suppose to meet for dinner at my hotel after work one night and I took the wrong bus and ended up on a long trip around the city. At one point, the driver asked me where I had planned to go and when I told him, he told me I got on the right bus number yet not the right direction. At that point, I had already figured out what I had done wrong. So I got to the hotel two hours late for dinner. Thankfully Darlene was still there, yet so ready to leave. She laughed at me. I was sorry to miss my time with her.

    Father’s day was wonderful.

I made a cake from a magazine. It was lime chiffon with a whipped cream icing. It sounded all good but it looked better in the picture. I don’t think lime is a very good flavor for a cake; it is just a little weird…maybe just my preference.

I planned to cook shrimp over an open flame, so I started a fire in the back yard in our port-a-fire place thingie.  I prepared the side dishes of a fruited spicy salsa and shrimp basmati rice, and then it started to rain, so I had to cook the shrimp in the oven. I was disappointed, Dwayne laughed at me.

I took Georgia to the pool again on Saturday. It was a lot of fun! She is really digging the pool. I sprayed her down with sunblock twice during the four hours we were there and she still got a tan! I have had my fill of the sun lately, all of this yard work and then the pool, whew!  Georgia fell down while in the water and scraped her knee. It was her worst injury yet!

June 16, 2006

  • Whew!

I am getting close to going back to work. I am trying to get a lot of things done before I go back such as working on my tan. Actually, I have been doing a lot of gardening, in the veggie garden and the flower garden. It is really easy to set up the baby monitor and run into the house when Dylan needs servicing. Little Georgia is my little helper. Yesterday, I had the two of them on Dylan’s quilt, under the tree in the front yard sleeping when Dwayne got home from work. It was so cute. I should have taken a pic but I forgot to.

I tackled the jungle that was our front yard and reduced our 10 ft flower beds down to a more realistic size, and the shape of the new flower bed is kinda sexy. I was able to share some plants from the yard with my neighbor Deb, who lives right next door. I also took some Irises to the Latino family who recently moved in. I wish the lady of the house spoke more English, or I spoke Spanish/Portuguese(?) because her veggie garden is BOOMING and mine is just beeping. I would like to compare notes. It must be that magic machete I always see her using.

I am excited about the front yard, it really looks good.

I took Georgia to the community pool last weekend. It was absolutely fantasic. It was such a joy to take her. She had a hard time trying to comprehend that the water was deeper than she is tall. Her Grandma Bell bought her a little kids safety swim suit so I tried to bob her around and let her see that the water was over her head. She eventually understood but it didn’t stop her from trying to jump into the water that was over her head. I followed her around like a puppy dog.

Dylan…well, he mainly …eats, then sleeps, then wakes up, and farts and then eats, then spits up then I change his diaper/clothes and he eats some more and then farts and then sleeps for a while and I find something else to do until he wakes up to start the cycle all over again.

He is around 12 lbs now; we weighed him on our home scale. I cannot believe how different he is from Georgia. It must be the difference between boys and girls. He is just so much more than she was.  He is bigger, he is stronger, he eats more, and he has stinkier farts. It is amazing to us.

Last night was an adventure in parenting. Woo Hoo! Dylan was having a hardtime sleeping, Georgia was having a hardtime sleeping. I think Georgia is experiencing growing pains. I used to get them really bad as a kid. She slept on the floor of our room last night & the night before, she will not sleep in our bed, imagine that!

So there she is on the floor, now she is like any other toddler, she migrates while she sleeps, so we do the usual barricade with pillows thing. We have steps that lead downstairs in the middle of our large bedroom. Unfortunately, the stairs are very near our bed. Well, in the middle of the night, only 30 minutes from the last time I was up with Dylan, Dwayne suddenly flies out of the bed, from a belly laying position, landing on his belly at the top of the stairs with his arms extending down. Georgia is somewhere in the darkness of the stairway crying. I jump out of bed, not really knowing what is going on, what Dwayne knows that I don’t and why he and Georgia are on the steps. Of course, my first thought is, “Did Georgia fall down the steps?” he says sleepily while still trying to reach Georgia, “I don’t know.”.  It seemed like forever, but finally he got her up to the top. Then she was crying for me.

Nobody knows whether she was going downstairs and got lost or if she took a little tumble down some of the steps. Dwayne seems to think she was kind of laying on one of the steps just at the tip of his reach. Georgia has no recollection, she will just repeat what ever I ask her.

I still don’t know how she got beyond the barricade. We will have to get better next time.

  • Guess What!

Thanks to a tip from dasha. I explored the new feature called “footprints”. It is a tracking tool that will show me who has visited the site, well basically just the state that the person is from that is browsing my site.

Now I know when folks are reading my site even if they haven’t created a profile to leave me feedback.

Speaking of which, I wish more of my family would leave feedback. So what, you gotta create a profile…big whoop.

    Share the joy!

Come on, you know you are dying to tell me something…

Dwayne's Mama bought us a feast for his b-day - YUM!!

Dungies, shrimp, steak and corn on the cob

I made him a ice cream cake. It has layers of cake, peach sorbet, vanilla ice cream and a peach mouse topping:

Lounging around the house, does it get any better?

  • The kids are sleeping.

I am craving chocolate, but I am fat enough, ugh.

Here is a story for ya…

Last night, Georgia gets “my” crayons out and spreads them on the floor. After she has lost interest, she starts bugging me. I am cleaning the kitchen.  I tell her, “You have to pick up the crayons.” She says,”I want popcorn”. She is always changing the subject when I ask her to clean up after herself. I tell her, “It is mommies job to clean up the kitchen, it is Georgia’s job to pick up the crayons. After we are done with our jobs we can have popcorn.”

This is priceless….she says, “It’s not my job to clean up, it’s your job.”

Word for word, that is what she said.

And Dwayne was going to show her how to open the closet door the other day. I think she knows enough.

    Gotta run..

Here we are at the baseball game there were fireworks:

    Fireworks begin (Georgia's first fireworks):

it was a lot of fun, though little Georgia was under my skirt for most of the fireworks display.

  • Things are getting interesting. Having two children is starting to take hold on our perception of this reality.

I asked Dwayne why he has not changed a single diaper of Dylan’s, he said he has been changing all of Georgia’s diapers.  It just simply did not occur to me.  Yeah two kids.

It is going to be loads of fun.  Last night we broke out the video camera and shot an hour of footage. The scene was just general playing around in the living room with American Idol blaring in the background.  After some booty shaking, Georgia and Dwayne broke out in a Ramen Noodle fight, Taco (the dog) was recovering all ground scores. It was very entertaining.

I wish I had the camera going for this one…Today, all of us were upstairs for a little diaper changing on Dylan. Georgia wanted to help. So she was positioned at Dylan’s feet, Dwayne was just to her left next to me at Dylan’s head. It was only a little crowded. The diaper was poopy. When I opened the diaper and Georgia saw the endside view of a poopy diaper, she freaks out, “Ew, Mommy!” “Ew!!!” It was seriously the funniest expression on her face.  So, I clean up his little bum and notice there is a little skin irritation so Dwayne ran downstairs for the ointment, I let Dylan air out a bit. Georgia and I have a brief discussion about the absence of Dylan’s vagina and what all the extra tools are in his tool belt.  Then he farts, Georgia about falls off of the chair. Farts are the funniest thing to children and some adults alike. It was pretty funny. Dwayne returns with the ointment and right as I go to open his legs to apply it, he lets loose of a few poo’s. All three of us crack up laughing! Thank God I had a clean diaper under his butt or we would have had quite a mess on the changing pad.  So I give the cream to Dwayne, from my finger to his, and I get the wipes.  I clean him up a second time. We are still snickering and we all lean in as I hold up his feet and Dwayne starts to apply the ointment. When all of a sudden, this mini torpedo poo comes flying from his butt followed by a perfectly timed shower of urine in a grand arch over his legs.  All of us spring back, Dwayne does a backwards roll over the bed and we laugh so hard we are crying. I had to sit down because I am still so tender.  It was the funniest thing I have seen in diaper changing. Whew!  I try to clean him up again but he keeps peeing and pushing like he was going to poo again, so I close up shop until I think he is finished his business.  And we all laughed and laughed.

  • He is here!

    Dylan Indigo

    8 lbs

And he gave quite a fight!

They had to pry the little monkey from my ribs with suction cups and nurses bearing down hard on my ribs. It was quite an experience.

He is a very hairy little man with little to no distinction between eyebrow and hairline. We have been calling him the little monkey. My mother had brought him a little monkey for Christmas last year and it has been with him the whole way.

Georgia is slowly arriving at an understanding of what this all means. It was quite a shock for her to go to see Mama in the hospital and see a baby suckling.  After all Georgia has been going through a pretty big fascination with my breasts over the last few months. She took one look at me and the baby then turned to Dwayne and said, “I wanna go.”.  We explained that the baby is her brother and that he came from mama’s belly and that his name is Dylan. Then she wanted to feed him some Cheetos, I figured that meant everything was cool.

Later, when Dwayne, Katie and Georgia returned for a visit, Georgia was walking down the hallway with her shirt hiked up saying, “Push the baby out of my belly.” With hand gestures.

She has been enamored with his little fingers and little ears and little feet and all of his little parts.  She cried with him when I changed his diaper in front of her. She hugs and kisses him every chance she gets. I think it is going to be good.
We were discharged on Sunday after the circumcision. All I can say is “Ew, yuck.”

The dogs were next to meet the new addition to the family. Dwayne brought him in and just lie we did with Georgia, he knelt down on the floor with Dylan. Taco sniffed and Savannah sniffed and gave a gentle lick on the cheek. He apparently got the seal of approval from the dogs.

We are all doing fine, I miss the hospital bed and its neato tricks, I did get some nice pain meds that are keeping me mobile. Dylan struggled last night with his lack of foreskin situation, which in turn kept Dwayne and I up all night, I bottle fed him formula and managed to get him to sleep. My milk dropped in this morning so I have been alternating. I have decided that I do not want to pursue breast feeding. I also do not want to discuss or feel like I need to justify my decision. Please, out of respect for me, don’t mention breast feeding, as I am a little sensitive about it.

I have more to say, yet I lack clarity of mind and quite honestly, time to write.

I want to get down to the pics.

  • Here we are, only 3 days away!!

This week has been exceptionally interesting.

Dwayne & I picked up a dresser for the kiddo. I felt inspired to paint it up over the weekend. I really dig the design that I came up with, it was completely made up on the fly, no planning whatso ever. Dwayne is not crazy about the mirror portion, but I just tell him he has no creative eye and he should go kick a soccer ball. Then he says something like , “Whatever…you asked for my opinion.” . It is all love I tell ya. We finished putting together the office into a guest/baby room. We will be playing changing rooms for a while this year. So right now, Georgia is still using the crib as a toddler bed. Our little man will use the co-sleeper in our room until her is around 6- 8 months. Then Mom is planning on buying Georgia some bunk beds. When that happens we will put them into the office room, move the office stuff into her former room and our son will inherit the crib. When he is ready to move into his own room, +/- 1.5 yrs , then we will move him into the office room and move the office stuff up stairs to our room.  So I guess by next summer/fall Georgia will be in the current Office room, our son will be in Georgia’s current room and the office will be set up in our bedroom somewhere and I have no idea where a potential house guest will be able to stay, except for the hotel or B&B down the street. Unless we move into another house before then, in that case, all bets are off.

I broke out in Scabies after all of that gardening. My OB prescribed some toxic medicine that has caused my face to feel sun burned. I found out I have another UI infection. Fun stuff waiting for that Monday Dr appointment and peeing like crazy for two days straight!!  I drank Cranberry like it was going outta style, no help, so I have another script for Antibiotics.

Georgia and I visited the library for the first time. It was a lot of fun for us. She really enjoyed it. I bought her a little kid’s book tote bag so she could gather music and books. This activity, of course, turned into “how many books can fit into this bag?” game.  She took a gigantic poo, librarians were giving me the hairy eyeball, and then I noticed the stench hovering around my child. There was no changing table in the bathroom, I had to toilet paper the floor to get the job done. Then she wanted to use the big potty to pee, and she did pee, go figure. We have been jetting around in the new car, getting used to it, trying to keep my mind off of the fact that the Acura is sitting collecting pollen dust in the driveway.

Georgia & I are bonding pretty good these days. She is so lovable and all over me these days. I am eating it up! Last night, while we watched our favorite TV shows, she cuddled me and played with my hair and at one point, looked right in my eyes and told me, “Mommy, your so pretty.” I cried.  I just love the attention from her. She is my little sweetheart.  I just don’t know how it can get any better than that. Lately, I feel so incredibly hideous. Large and bug infested, for my little girl to look at me and think that I am so pretty, it was magical.

Well, here are some pics of the dresser that I painted. I will probably get some belly shots in this week sometime. I am a huge 216 lbs!!! I don’t know how my ankles, well “cankles” are holding up all of this mass! I gained 6 lbs since Monday 4/29 !!

  • As I sit here this morning, reading my Xanga Feedback and filtering out junk email. I begin a sneeze marathon.

I used to attribute these attacks with work. I am positioned directly under a heat vent. I no longer think that it is the vent at all. It is adult onset allergies, great eh?

They say if you don't have allergies before you move to KY then it will only be a matter of time before you are suffering with the rest of the population here.

Apparently there is a lot of pollen from all of the deciduous trees and grasses that grow everywhere. This place is extremely green, I like it.

I guess it is now my time.

So I start a sneezing fit.

Georgia's bedroom is across the hall from the office room. I think she is asleep, until I hear, "Bless you mommy." in a tiny little morning voice.

    "thank you Georgia."

    "Your welcome."

A moment later, "Mommy, I want out, open the gate."

So now it is time for me to go.

    :)
