  • Well, and then it was done.

I have only days before I must return to the grind.  I will go back on Friday and get settled, read email download new software for the new job etc. Then I will fly out to Seattle on Sunday. I will be in Seattle a solid week. I am hoping the homestead will be ok for the week without me. Georgia can be quite a handful.

I am really looking forward to seeing my family, Doug & Melissa & the girls. It was nice to see them the last time I was out in February.  I am also excited to see Miss Darlene, we always have the best time. The last time I was out, we were suppose to meet for dinner at my hotel after work one night and I took the wrong bus and ended up on a long trip around the city. At one point, the driver asked me where I had planned to go and when I told him, he told me I got on the right bus number yet not the right direction. At that point, I had already figured out what I had done wrong. So I got to the hotel two hours late for dinner. Thankfully Darlene was still there, yet so ready to leave. She laughed at me. I was sorry to miss my time with her.

    Father’s day was wonderful.

I made a cake from a magazine. It was lime chiffon with a whipped cream icing. It sounded all good but it looked better in the picture. I don’t think lime is a very good flavor for a cake; it is just a little weird…maybe just my preference.

I planned to cook shrimp over an open flame, so I started a fire in the back yard in our port-a-fire place thingie.  I prepared the side dishes of a fruited spicy salsa and shrimp basmati rice, and then it started to rain, so I had to cook the shrimp in the oven. I was disappointed, Dwayne laughed at me.

I took Georgia to the pool again on Saturday. It was a lot of fun! She is really digging the pool. I sprayed her down with sunblock twice during the four hours we were there and she still got a tan! I have had my fill of the sun lately, all of this yard work and then the pool, whew!  Georgia fell down while in the water and scraped her knee. It was her worst injury yet!

  • Its not for sure going to be any easier to leave two little ones for a week, DAD has really proven himself capable though, hasn't he! I also gave that little knee a kiss to make it better. How could you resist?

  • Thanks for the long post. I am glad for the advice and even more glad to hear that I am not the only one with struggles. The girls are so precious. Oh and I have been to Woody's. I believe it is in northeast, MD. I go to Sandy Cove every year for a retreat and we always go out to eat Friday night. We went to Woody's last year. I have to get ready for work but I want to let you know that I was glad for the comments. I do know what it is like to be scared as a child and I am doing my best to let me daughter know that she doesn't need to be scared. I am also trying to let her feel like she can do anything (ie wear her hair the way she wants, wear the clothes she wants as long as they are not slutty, eat the food she likes etc.) She sings all the time and it is such a joy. The cake looks good I think. I am getting the hair cut. I found a style I like and my hubby says that although he doesn't like it that it is my head and I am the one having to deal with the heat. I will let you know if I still like it once I do it. We will be in Ky in July. My whole family is getting together. I am very excited. The kids are throwing my parents a party for their wedding anniv. My mom doesn't know yet. Have a great weekend
