  • Here we are and it is August.

My visit with my friend was really great. I really enjoyed showing her my town. It was nice to have someone to pal around with. We went to the Maker’s Mark distillery, she is a bar owner or former bar owner. So it was neat for her to see he production of bourbon. I think the guide like to call her out during his presentation of the distillery process. It was ungodly hot, not to mention that they “cook” the ingredients to make bourbon, so that added to the tremendous heat. We had to skip out a little early, Georgia looked like she was going to pass out. We went to the gift shop, they have free pink lemonade that we sampled earlier, the dispenser was empty and it caused quite a ruckus with little Georgia.  When I told her it was empty, she pulled a chair up to the counter and then threw a temper tantrum when discovered that the dispenser was in fact empty. I went and interrupted one of the three ladies behind the counter to see if they would bring out more. Georgia looked terrible. The lady, Betty, brought some more lemonade and Georgia instantly changed into her pleasant self again, smile all around. Whew! My friend dipped a couple of bottles to take home and then we left. If I ever go back, I will go in the fall. Now that I think of it, I think I remember some local telling me to go to the distilleries in the fall. I guess I thought it was for the fall colors not for the heat factor.

I didn’t get the return on the garden that I had hoped. There was a lot of effort in this garden and I learned a lot about growing vegetables.

I will build some sort of recycled materials green house before winter’s edge so that we can get a jump start on next year. Dwayne & I have already planned to get manure for obvious reasons and sand for aeration next year.

    It will be good.

I am going to can veggies from the farmers market, just because I really enjoy putting food into jars.  I canned three jars of green bean this past weekend and three cans of salsa.

I like hording food for my family. I made enough raviolis to last the next year, but I shared them with the neighbor on several occasions and I still have more.

I have lost the creative spark for the moment, I have been on autopilot. No sleep and stress at work makes me…not so fun. I try though. I took Georgia to the pool Saturday and we got sunburned. I forgot to lather her in sun block. Bad mommy!!

  • Beautiful pictures, number 8 is my favourite along with the 1st.

  • We have tons of tomatos coming on, just turning ripe. Reaped a harvest of peppers already. Nothing else in our little collection of plant life aside from a few herbs. I think we might have a tater or two around, but not sure. LOL. Mostly I grow weeds. hehehe.
