  • The baby is turning. Ouch.

I made a cake for a bridal shower this weekend. It was a really big hit and I had a lot of fun doing it. I made the whole thing from scratch which was new for me.  I will be making another of the first week of April. A boy’s birthday cake. It will be fun.

Georgia had quite a weekend. Dwayne has been working with her on potty training. There is always a battle of wills with her though. She is discovering that she has options and more often than not she always chooses opposite of what you want her to. It is very typical of her age.  She fought a bit with Dwayne Friday night over eating dinner, picking up toys and other things. At one point she turned around and said “I hate you Daddy.” - Just matter-of-factly, not of passion or true hate. It stunned us like a couple of deer in headlights! I guess she heard that word being used a daycare because we don’t use that word around the house. She would have more luck hearing a swear word than the Hate word. Weird. Dwayne asked her if she still loved Daddy and she said yes, so we assume she didn’t understand what she was saying. We let it slide this time however, I see a conversation occurring if this happens again. On Saturday night she demanded a shower, so Dwayne set her up in the shower and she showered all by herself. She amazes me with her independence. She is very content to do things by herself. I like it, it makes me feel like we are doing well as parents that she is self secure and sure of herself. Though I do not like to argue with her, “I want a cookie!!!”, “No, dinner is almost ready”, and back and forth until dinner is on the table. There is no final word, like the booming final word that I remember coming out of my mom, the resounding “no.” yeah that crap don’t fly with this one. It is “pester until something happens” methodology.

This week, I had been craving homemade whole wheat bread and honey butter, so I finally got around to making it last night. Georgia helped. She loved the honey butter.

I love that bread machine. I definitely don’t use it enough.

Today, it is back to work. I really want to take off for maternity leave. I have a hard time being here lately. The belly is so uncomfortable sitting at a desk it is not fun.

I am still waiting to hear about an interview. I am really just holding out for that. Once I can interview, I feel like I can go out on leave.

Oh anyway, who wants to hear me complain.

I found this old picture mixed into some other files the other day. It was taken in July of last year. It is just so cute, I had to share!

  • Hi Monica!
Love the pics of our baby girl...she is so sweet looking! I can't wait to see the real Georgia in action when I get there in May. I talked to my dad tonight. They wanted to know your due date and I told them, May 5th. Dad said to tell you to have his great-grandson on May 3rd, that's his birthday! Then he said to tell you that he is 'teasing'! Oh, he said that he likes the name; James, Robert and Keith.

Your cake is beautiful! I have never made a cake like that. Of course, I have no knowledge or training in cake decorating! :) :) :) You will be making Dwayne's birthday cake, right?

Danielle and I have been shopping for baby boy bell and we have a boxfull of goodies. I will be mailing it any day now.

    Much love,
    Mom
