It rained really hard last night, scared us right outta bed.

My little seedlings were outside. I looked at them out of the window, praying they would be alright.

This morning, they were fine. I moved them into the garage because it looks like more rain is on the way.

Thanks a lot T.G. Shuck for that weather warning! Grrrr.

    :)

  • From my dear friend Miranda

    Hi everyone,

As some of you already know, my dear cat Mr. Kitty was a victim of the recent pet food recall.  I took him to the vet Wednesday who confirmed that his kidneys are in distress.  Please make sure your pets and your friends and family’s pets are safe.  I have signed onto the class action lawsuit that has begun in this case and I encourage anyone else affected to do the same.  It may not help to restore the health of our pets, but it may help to prevent similar future occurences.  Please visit the blog below for some very interesting information on the topic.

    Take care.

  • I have Great News and Bad news.

I like to have Bad News first and Great News last.

    So…

    The Bad News

My mother’s house caught fire last night.  One in the morning.

My youngest three siblings were all there. (I am the oldest of 6, aged 32 – 10 yrs old)

All 4 of them got out fine.

Apparently, there was an electrical fire in the adjacent apartment. The owners of the house had built an addition to the house for additional income during retirement. My mother lived in the main house. Her kitchen, dining room and living room were a total loss. The fire company drenched everything in water so it is yet to be seen what is simply damaged from the water in the rooms that do not have damage from direct fire.  All beds, and soft furniture is total loss. She did not grab her purse on the way out, so she now has no identification, no ATM cards, no cash, no cell phone. And they are effectively homeless.

My mother had an insurance policy but it lapsed during December when she went through her hip replacement. She never renewed, because she “got side tracked”.

If any one feels inspired to give $$ help to my mom, you can donate via pay-pal button on the left of this page or just send me a note.

If anyone in her area has any info on a new place to live, free home items or anything else that can help, please drop me a line.

    The Great News

My son Dylan took his first steps yesterday. Four complete steps from me towards the clothes hamper while Dwayne and I watched in amazement.

Our little man is getting sooo big.

Georgie on the other hand, is burning the midnight oil.  She decided to decorate her room while we slept on Monday night, with a Sharpie Marker.

So we now have blue sharpie marker on the walls, furniture, floors, window shades, window sills, windows, pillows, blankets, belly buttons, toys.

One thing I found out is that rubbing alcohol takes the marker off of shiny surfaces, so some of it is cleaned up now.

UGH. I wish I could show you a picture.

  • Planting the garden. Salivating over the seed catalog. Endless dreaming of spring time.

    Aw.

    I just can’t wait.

This is what I am planting this year:

    Mary Washington Asparagus

    Kentucky Wonder Pole Bean

    Detroit Red Beets

    Danvers Half Long Carrots

    Early Sun Glow Sweet Corn

    Pickling Cukes

    Slicing Cukes

    Sugar Snap Peas

    Garden Peas

    Yellow Onions

    Red Onions

    Green Bell Peppers

    Burbank Potatoes

    Cherry Radish

    Straight neck Squash

    Cantaloupe

    Roma Tomatoes

    Some other kind of tomato

    6 basil plants

    Thyme

    Sage

    Italian parsley

    Sunflowers

The garden is going to be SOOOO cool.

    .

I am also transplanting the growth on the side yard. The large climbing Rose will have a new home on a invisible support system. (wire and poles). I am replacing the dirt mounds with Tall grasses and Tall Snapdragons, Delphinium and Bells of Ireland (tall green flowers) All of these tall things will hide the neighbor’s ugly rusty chain link fence and maybe… shield the project car that my husband is going to work on someday.

I also have some pretty purple pansy’s (all shades) that I am starting; I want these by the front door. They will be so pretty.

My whole kitchen table is a seed bed right now. Georgia is totally fascinated and frustrated when I will not let her pick the newly erupting plants. She wants to eat my broccoli and the whole plant is only 3 cm big. It is really funny.

I got a bunch of sweet pea for my brother’s house. He has an ugly chain link fence to hid too. His lady Sarah and I are going to plant the sweet pea soon. It will look so pretty.

I even bought some bulbs for my neighbor. I found some bulbs that she loves at the dollar store, they had just set them out for sale and so I figured I would get her a bag before they were gone.

Did I tell you I am out of control?

So the camera is officially broke. I will be dropping it off at the Post Office tomorrow.

    UGH.

Dylan is soooo cute. And I can’t even take his picture. It is a crying shame.

  • Ever feel like you’re on a see-saw?

    Merry Go Round?

    Yep me too.

Dylan figured out how to open his bottles. I have changed bed clothes twice before I figured out he was actually opening them.

    9 months old!!

Dwayne left yesterday for training in Nashville TN for his new job.

He was excited to go but also very nervous about leaving us behind. He ran through all of the safety tips before he left, the house alarm, he brought out the berretta to show me how to use it. Fun.

I told him not to worry, my little-big Brother is just down the street.

Our camera is broken, so we have no pics. I have to send it back to the manufacturer.

My Sister got married on Thursday last week. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=65020861&MyToken=031de30f-e606-4d64-8a77-b35a56b5be82

I spent 8 hours putting together the best “getting married” advice/insight I could develop. I am the big sister, what else am I suppose to do?

I took care to be sure to only provide *information* about abusive relationships, addiction and divorce. I mainly focused on the steps and questions that I asked myself to make the decision for me. In the last paragraph, I told her she deserved more, that she should not marry so soon, that she should wait a while. I guess it was not heard, not welcomed, not worthy of mention. Maybe, I wasn’t so nice to her. She never replied to the message. Instead she acted as if it never existed; no mention of it what so ever. I was mad.

So then, the day before her wedding day she writes to me, telling me how excited she is. And being very irritated at her dismissal of my hard worked letter, I responded without thinking…I wrote back : “I’m sorry”.  That wasn’t good enough, so I called her and really laid out my opinion to her voice mail, recorded for evermore… it wasn’t pretty.

I felt like an ASS, but I don’t think she has chosen wisely. I know it is not my life, it is not my call. I simply think she deserves better than whom she settled for.

I did not give her this opinion until the day before she married. I didn’t go to the wedding. Our last conversation ended with her saying a bunch of F-U’s so I guess I lost a sister. We never had a really close relationship, she is 8 years my junior. I am so pissed that she would choose a life like our parents led. It is so sad. I really hope that they do better than my folks did, or don’t bring kids into the relationship. There was a lot pain and suffering when I was growing up as a result of my parents choices. I just really hope she is smarter. I am glad I live 500 miles away so I don’t have to watch.

I think I have successfully crushed any hope of a relationship with my sister.

I am an over achiever, that is what I do.
