I have Great News and Bad news.
I like to have Bad News first and Great News last.
So…
The Bad News
My mother’s house caught fire last night. One in the morning.
My youngest three siblings were all there. (I am the oldest of 6, aged 32 – 10 yrs old)
All 4 of them got out fine.
Apparently, there was an electrical fire in the adjacent apartment. The owners of the house had built an addition to the house for additional income during retirement. My mother lived in the main house. Her kitchen, dining room and living room were a total loss. The fire company drenched everything in water so it is yet to be seen what is simply damaged from the water in the rooms that do not have damage from direct fire. All beds, and soft furniture is total loss. She did not grab her purse on the way out, so she now has no identification, no ATM cards, no cash, no cell phone. And they are effectively homeless.
My mother had an insurance policy but it lapsed during December when she went through her hip replacement. She never renewed, because she “got side tracked”.
If any one feels inspired to give $$ help to my mom, you can donate via pay-pal button on the left of this page or just send me a note.
If anyone in her area has any info on a new place to live, free home items or anything else that can help, please drop me a line.
The Great News
My son Dylan took his first steps yesterday. Four complete steps from me towards the clothes hamper while Dwayne and I watched in amazement.
Our little man is getting sooo big.
Georgie on the other hand, is burning the midnight oil. She decided to decorate her room while we slept on Monday night, with a Sharpie Marker.
So we now have blue sharpie marker on the walls, furniture, floors, window shades, window sills, windows, pillows, blankets, belly buttons, toys.
One thing I found out is that rubbing alcohol takes the marker off of shiny surfaces, so some of it is cleaned up now.
UGH. I wish I could show you a picture.
