  • I lost a work friend over the holiday.
He was 27 with a young wife & 2 year old.
We shared coffee breaks for over two years, lots of good times were had. Funny stories shared and wise crack made. I can hear his voice in my head and see his common expression, I called the "hairy eyeball".
    I just can't believe it.

He was riding a motor cycle home from work on Thanksgiving day, when an unfortunate 19 yr old girl failed to yeild right of way at a stop sign. He slammed into the truck, sliding underneath. He died on the way to the hospital.

His name was Mike Shopp, he was my friend.

I am really glad that his pretty little girl has his bright eyes.

This was a group photo taken at our "going away" party before we left KY.

  • Monica, I am so sorry to read about your friend's tragic accident. Of course, it has to happen right before Christmas. I hope that 17 year old girl realizes how she has changed people's lives and what she took away from that family. Was she drumk? My brother, Daniel, had to drop his bike and it went under a motorhome. He rolled and rolled and took off skin in the process. He gave up his motorcyle after that. Now, both of my sons want to ride those death traps. Just means more praying for me...

    Much love,

    Mom

  • I am so sorry for your loss, really.
